Based on two paintings made by two different artist living in different hemispheres, both made around the same time (circa 1820). The maori pa was painted by Augustus Earle, an itinerant artist passing through New Zealand. The female figure on the chaise longue was made by the famous french painter David. A collision of paintings as much as a collision of cultures. |
